Beyond Rome, in the Alban and Prenestini Hills at the Time of the Grand Tour is the title of an extensive and ambitious exhibition running until the 25 March 2012, and involving some of the most popular places on the Grand Tour route in the Province of Rome.
The exhibition, divided into various themes, is spread between the towns of Frascati, Albano Laziale, Lanuvio, Genazzano, Monte Porzio Catone, Nemi, Palestrina, San Cesario-Colonna, Valmontone and Zagarolo, which were all well known to the foreign aristocrats, writers and artists who flocked to the Eternal City during the 1700s-1800s.

Artists' Dwellings at Albano Civic Museum, with works by Philippe Hackert, Carlo Maratta and Valadier.
Travel and Travellers in the Aldobrandini ex-Coachhouse museum at Frascati.
Landscapes and Finds in the Roman Campagna between the XVIII and XX centuries. at Lanuvio.
Pages of Ink, dedicated to travel diaries of the period at the Roman Ship Museum of Nemi.
Ideal and Real Landscapes of the Grand Tour in Palazzo Doria, Valmontone.
What is Left of the Grand Tour, an exhibition of contemporary painting at Genazzano Castle.
Travel during the Grand Tour in the Railway Museum of San Cesario, the former Colonna train station.
Games, Costumes and Folklore at the Toy Museum of Zagarolo, while Monte Porzio Catone concentrates on country inns, wine and the food that travellers enjoyed.
