The Gualtiere Marchesi Foundation, named after the celebrated Italian chef, launched its third World Grand Tour in Chicago during the "Week of Italian cuisine Worldwide" on the 12 November 2018. After New York (16 November), the culinary roadshow touches down in Hong Kong and Beijing on the 19 and 22 November respectively, proceeding to Tokyo on the 22. Back in Europe in the New Year, with appointments throughout February in Paris, London, Berlin and Moscow, the tour ends in Milan on the 19 March 2019.
Marchesi, who died at the end of 2017, is hailed as the founder of modern Italian cuisine, which gave Italian food its prominent place among world cuisines. He was also the first chef in Italy to win three Michelin stars. His Foundation carries on his work as ambassador of "la cucina italiana" in the world.
The gastronomic grand tour has the patronage of ENIT, the Italian National Tourism Authority, as well as the collaboration of several leading Italian food and beverage brands, such as Illy caffè, Ferrari wines, Calvisius Italian caviar, Ferrarelle mineral water, the Angelo Po professional food catering equipment company and Ballarini cooking ware, all of whom express their enthusiasm in promoting the "Great Italian" project.
