Manhattan, New York, is  showcasing  Italian furniture design up till the 8 th February 2011. The calendar of events involves a circuit of 20 showrooms of the companies participating in the Italian Design Street Walking project, which is celebrating the 50 th anniversary of the prestigious Milan Furniture Fair.

The USA is Italys fifth most important market, marking a turnover of 551 million in 2009. Many of the pieces exhibited at the annual Milan Fair have become cult objects, eagerly sought after by upper middle class consumers in cities like New York, Miami and Los Angeles, who view the possession of a Made in Italy item in their homes as a status symbol
