In its bi-annual selection for 2011, the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Foundation has nominated Romes MAXXI Museum of XXI century Art among Europes most beautiful museums. Designed by Iranian architect Zaha Hadid, the MAXXI, along with five other finalists, was chosen from a list of 343 museum buildings in 33 European countries.
The prize winning ceremony will take place on the 20 June 2011 at the Mies van der Rohe pavilion, Barcellona.
In 2010, the MAXXI was also been awarded the Stirling Prize of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Waf World building of the Year at the World Architectural Festival of Barcellona.
