The great grape stock Vernaccia Nera is celebrated again this year in its home territory, the town of Serrapetrona (Marche). The Appassimenti Aperti appointment is now into its eight edition.
Sunday 17th November 2013 is the perfect opportunity to taste the Vernaccia di Serrapetrona docg and the Serrapetrona doc in a jolly street party atmosphere. The occasion is ideal for visiting the traditional Appassimenti, where the grapes are put to dry out before they go on to the next stage of wine making. In the Appassimenti, the grapes undergo the unusual process of being hung from the walls, creating veritable walls of grapes.
Organized by the Marche regional Institute for Wine Protection, the Vernaccia Committee for the Protection of Vernaccia di Serrapetrona wines and the town council of Serrapetrona, the services of a shuttle bus service to take visitors around six traditional wine cellars will be available.
