The Pompeii Festival is staging La Boheme me and Carmen in the open air arena of the Teatro Grande (Big Theatre) in the heart of the ruined city. Puccini's best loved work about poverty-stricken lovers is scheduled for the 18^th September 2014 with the Orchestra and chorus of the Massimo Bellini Theatre of Catania. Bizet's indomitable gypsy girl appears on the 20^th September 2014, accompanied by the Balletto del Sud.

Entrance is free for the blind and people with disabilities.

For those who like planning ahead, the 2015 season June-September will feature Tosca, Carmen and Aida, as well as a series of ballets and concerts.
