On the 28 th November, Donatellos famous bronze statue of David will once more be on view to the public after a long and complex restoration. The sculpture, believed to have been made in the 1440s, is considered to be a landmark work of art that heralded in the Renaissance. The free-standing nude figure of a cocky young David, with a hat on his head and his foot resting on Goliaths severed neck was considered revolutionary in its time.
The restoration project took 18 months and cost a total 200,000 euro.
