Piedmont Region and the city of Turin are seeing the fruits of a dynamic campaign to promote tourism to the area. The trend began with the Winter Olympics two years ago, when the spotlight on the attractions of Turin and the surrounding area brought 11 million visitors in the course of the year. Recent figures report that in 2008 the region registered eleven and a half million overnight stays and three and a half million arrivals, confirming an increase of 500,000 visitors.
