The village of Pievasciata in the heart of Chiantishire has reinvented itself as a centre of contemporary art. Near Castelnuovo Berardegna, in an area where many foreigners have set up second homes, Pievasciata has given itself an original image with a series of contemporary art works distributed around its territory.
Mayor Roberto Bozzi commented that the project complemented the Sculpture Park of Chianti, which welcomes over 10,000 visitors a year and that other contemporary works will be added in the course of time to those already installed.
The four art works already in situ are: Homage to the Palio by Sandro Bessi, Chianti Classico by Indonesian artist Edi Susilo, Metropolitan Ostriches by Chinese artist Yu Zhaoyang and the telephone boxes of Piero Giadrossi's Incommunicabilità.
