On the 2 June 2013, in coincidence with Italy's annual Celebration of the Republic, the various museums of science and natural history in the territory of Siena get together in the Siena Orto Botanico (Botanical Gardens) to illustrate their activities and initiatives.
The Festa dei Musei Scientifici (Festival of Science Museums) stars fourteen local scientific institutes offering visitors insight into themes such as: the secrets of the sun, discovering the human body, mysteries of plants, perfumes from ancient times to the present day, processes of clay, all about snails, minerals and crystals, earth tremors, renewable energy sources and other fascinating subjects.
The conservation of the environment and animal life in the nature reserves of Siena Province will be illustrated in two debates, one at 11am and the other at 3 pm.
The initiative, organized by the Siena Museums Foundation in collaboration with the University of Siena, is now in its fourth edition. Entrance to the event is free.
