Eataly, the showcase of Italian gastronomy, is celebrating the first anniversary of the opening of its food palace in Rome, with a mega 10-day party that involves, among other events, an international Street Food party and a gigantic birthday cake.
The celebrations open on the 21 June, when the 10 metre-long cake, created by master pastry chef Luca Montersino, will be divided up among all the members of the public attending the Food Hall in Rome's Ostiense district. Toasts will be drunk with Asti DOCG Fontanafredda.
From the 21-23 June, international cuisine will be highlighted with chefs from some twenty countries preparing their national specialities alongside 20 Italian chefs.
Eataly has gone from success to success ever since it was created by the dynamic entrepreneur Oscar Farinetti. Closely linked to the equally successful Slow Food movement, Eataly also has prestigious outlets in New York, Manhattan, and Japan, Tokyo.
Since it opened last year, Eataly Rome has welcomed 5 million people. Over 3 and a half million of them have eaten in one of the many specialized restaurants, participated in events and/or bought products.
