Finding reasonably priced accommodation in Milan can sometimes be a problem so budget travellers will be delighted to hear of the inauguration of the Cascina Cuccagna, the new hostel in a 17th century farmhouse situated a short distance from the Porta Romana metro stop.
The hostel has two double rooms and two dormitories with six beds each at budget prices. A digital totem guarantees automatic check in at any hour and facilities include free WiFi, a library with books in various languages and a garden for relaxing in.
The restaurant-cafetteria Un Posto a Milano with chef Nicola Cavallaro is open for snacks and meals every day except Monday. The menu is based on local products and vegetarian and glutine-free dishes are also available.
The inauguration on the 24th March 2015 was also marked by the opening of the art exhibition Ritratti dalla Prateria (Portraits of the Prairie) by Milanese artist Pietro Sganzerla, who works between Italy and Berlin. The exhibition will run until the 30th June 2015.
