Mantova (Lombardy), a listed UNESCO World Hertage Site, is this year's Italian Capital of Culture and the city has prepared a programme of over 1000 special events between March and December 2016 to satisfy all interests, ages and tastes.
Many of these events are aimed at an international public and will be staged inside the city's most important treasures, such as the Ducal Palace, with its celebrated Camera degli Sposi (Room of the Married Couple), frescoed by Mantegna, Palazzo Te, decorated by Giulio Romano, the Basilica of St. Andrew, the Basilica Palatina of St. Barbara .and the Teatro Scientifico del Bibiena.
Itineraries on foot, by bike and by boat are also available in the nature reserve of the Mincio Park.
Visitors can purchase a Mantova Card for 20, valid 72 hours, giving access to 15 museums in Mantova and nearby Sabbioneta.
