The Egyptian Museum of Turin is launching an exciting joint venture event with Naples and the Campania Region in 2016 that aims to emphasize the influence of Egyptian culture and its importance in the Mediterranean world.
Egitto-Pompeii takes off on the 5th March at the Turin museum with the inauguration of the exhibition The Nile and Pompeii – a vision of Egypt in the Roman World. The Turin Museum contains what is considered to be the most important collection of Egyptian antiquites in the world after Cairo. Last year (2015) it underwent extensive renovation that included doubling its exposition space.
The second phase of the event will take place on the 16th April in the archaeological site of Pompeii where Ancient Egypt will be re-created in the Grande Palestra, while the third event in the programme starts on the 28th June at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. The MANN (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli) will be re-organizing its permanent collection to focus on cults that arrived in Campania from Egypt .
